About one week ago Boys With Hobbies had the opportunity to travel to Rome, as a friend's movie was screened in Pontino Short Film Festival, in Latina very near Rome. The city was very beautiful, although full of tourists. Latina short film festival was very nicely organised and the screenings were very good, with a wide subject matter. Boys With Hobbies recommends Pontino festival! The movie which was shown from Turku Arts Academy was Familjelampan by Milla Nybondas. It is a puppet animation that takes place in a family gathering.

Boys With Hobbies in Hawaii

BWH spent a nice holiday in Hawaii during the autumn of 2009. O'ahu was very beautiful, and the Pacific Ocean...it's just vast. There was a very nice mural on the wall of a local elementary school in Waikiki, done by the students.

At last Boys With Hobbies got the past movies to Vimeo. Image quality is what it is, but will improve in the future. As can be seen above, BWH seems to be content with this progress. Boys With Hobbies abroad

It's the 2010s, so time to start telling about the end of last year! Boys With Hobbies was travelling and trying to get the movies The Park and The Tourists to people far away. There was some success, as can be seen for example above, two movie enthusiasts found a pile of BWH movie DVDs just lying around on the lawn in downtown Annecy. Also some festivals were nice enough to include the movies in their screenings, so at least a few people could see them in a theatre!

This wonderful bear was made by Garth Williams for "Little Fur Family", a book written by Margaret Wise Brown published in 1946 by Harper & Row. I just found out that my drawn animation The Park was screened in Stockholm in late March as an opening picture for a longer film Käsky. During the spring also other Turku Arts Academy short movies and animations were shown as opening pictures. The movie screenings were organised by the Finnish Institute of Stockholm. Vad fint!

Holiday trip to Annecy

I'm already looking forward to next thursday when I travel to Annecy animation festival. There will be lots of movies to see, and the area itself is very beautiful. Included in the competition screenings will be Syötti by Malakias, Stage Fright by Elina Minn, Kuolema Keltaisessa Talossa by Anna Virtanen and Elu ilma Gabriela Ferrida by Priit and Olga Pärn, just to mention some! And of course lots of paper airplanes.
